123 Synchronizer 2010 Edition Product Update List

How to check whether you have the latest version

Each update has a version number. To check whether you have the latest update, click on Help->About 123 Synchronizer on 123 Synchronizer 2010 and there is a version number listed. If the version number is the same, then it is ok. If not and you are affected by any of the issues fixed on the update, download the executable from our web site, uninstall your current version of 123 Sync 2010 and install the new version.

On the later updates of 123 Synchronizer 2010, all your licensing and settings should be the same.

Downloading Updates

Currently, in order to install an update, you need to do the following:

  1. Download the evaluation from our site
  2. Uninstall your current version
  3. Install the downloaded evaluation version. Your license will be maintained and none of your settings are modified if the update is minor. If the update is medium, your setting may be erased and you will need to re-open your database and redo your settings. If the update is Major, you will need to purchase an upgrade. A major upgrade is when you go from V11 to V12, for example.

Releases

March 23rd, 2010: Update V12.4.0.49

Issues Fixed

  • Recurring Events. Recurring events with a time limit when transferred to Outlook were being created beyond the time limit. So, for example, if you had a recurring event that went into 1/1/2011, it would be created all the way to 2/1/2011. This was a bug in Outlook that we finally managed to track down and provide a workaround. Fixed.
  • Contact Filter "Contacts with Activities Only" stopped working with ACT! 2010. Fixed. All filters work as designed.
  • Other minor timing issues were fixed.

March 3rd, 2010: Update. V12.4.0.40

Issues Fixed

  • In our euphoria to get activities filtering working great for Group Synchronization, a bug was introduced that made it incompatible with earlier version of ACT! i.e. below 2010. Fixed. If you have 2010, no need to update. But if you get an error when synching Groups and you have ACT! 2009 or earlier, download this update and install it.

February 26th, 2010: Update. V12.4.0.38

Enhancements

  • Modified the licensing mechanism on the synchronizer so that only enabled users are considered for the licensing number of users restriction. This is a great modification. Now, if you have 50 users in the ACT! database and only 5 users need to sync with Outlook/Exchange, you only need a 5-User Server License.

Issues Fixed

  • Phone number sync of user defined phone numbers were not working properly with ACT! for Financial Services due to a field naming issue with ACT! for Financial Services. Fixed. User defined phone numbers work fine both ways.
  • Duplicate calendar and task items were being created for first time syncs where the item had an empty regarding field. Fixed.
  • Same Tasks done multiple times on the same day with the same contact were being duplicated on the first sync. Fixed. No duplication occurs.
  • Tested 123 Sync with ACT! for Financial Services and ACT! for Real Estate. Works now with standard and user defined fields fine.
  • Date filtering of Activities was not working properly when synchronizing by group. Fixed.
  • Relinked the software with ACT! 2010 SP1, the final, final SP1 release.

January 8th, 2010: Update. V12.4.0.24

Issues Fixed

  • We introduced the ACT! Banner to Outlook full day mapping on V12.4. However, when ACT! Banners are converted into Outlook full day events, the dates are modified in Outlook and that causes problems. Added a flag to the advanced settings that enables/disables banner mapping. By default, the mapping is not set. If you enable the banner settings, you do it at your own risk.
  • Found bug in ACT!'s identification of Recurring events. Found a workaround and fixed. Now all recurring events within the filtering system come over.
  • Found bug with conversion of ACT! duplicate Calendar items to Outlook. Fixed. No further duplicate items are created in Outlook from ACT! duplicates (in some cases, multiplicates...)
  • Fixed an issue where tasks were being completed i.e. just check marked and they were not being identified for reverse sync from Outlook.
  • Fixed an issue of the software prompting for username/password when running the software in the background. This no longer happens and the software will continue working and skip the user that does not manage to login.

Improvements

  • Added expanded logging and troubleshooting mechanism when resolving issues with large installations
  • Added a more gracious means of reporting errors without stopping the software

December 29, 2009: Update. V12.4.0.16

Enhancements

  • ACT! Related Enhancement. Past revisions of our product assumed that the Calendar ID's in ACT! stayed the same. However, in some installations we found that re-indexing/re-building modifies the IDs and that causes duplicates. Now, even when the world melts down i.e. ACT! IDs change and try to confuse the sync, we work fine.

Issues Fixed

Tasks from Outlook to ACT!. We found that under certain circumstances, the Todo created in in Outlook and then transferred to ACT! had the date of the sync instead of the start and due date in Outlook. Fixed.

December 10, 2009: Update. V12.4.0.14

Enhancements

  • Improved the Calendar/Activities sync to be 1 pass from 2 pass. In the past, due to issues with ACT! tables, we had to do a 2 pass sync when we updated ACT! items from Outlook. The first pass was to update ACT! and the second was to sync that ACT! item with Outlook. Now, we've improve the sync and all that is needed is a single pass from Outlook to ACT! and everyone is happy.

Issues Fixed

Bug cropped up on the exchange fixes that caused 123 Sync to ignore new calendar items when entered in Outlook. Fixed.

December 3st, 2009: Update. V12.4.0.08

Issues Fixed

  • EXCHANGE ONLY: Issues with duplicate contacts/tasks/calendar on an internal Exchange Server with Mounted Folders arose with a 3rd party library that we were using. ALL those issues have now been fixed and the software works great and has been thoroughly tested in the following environments:
    • .pst folder
    • Hosted Exchange Folder - Here your Exchange folder resides at an external provides of services.
    • Internal Exchange Mounted Folders - Here you have an internal Exchange server and your folders are mounted and accessible via Outlook.

November 23rd, 2009: Update. V12.2.120.72

Enhancements

  • Improved the selection of folders from Outlook. Now, not only is the user restricted to select the correct folders but when the user is prompted to select the folder, the current selected folder is displayed.
  • Made it so that when the ACT! database is selected, the user's folder defaults to the Outlook defaults.

Issues Fixed

  • IMPORTANT. Fixed a bug that occurred when users were using Outlook as the dominant database and synched identical ACT! and Outlook/Exchange databases. In some very rare instances, duplicate items were being created.

November 9th, 2009: Update. V12.2.120.58

Enhancements

  • Improved first time conversion by setting the target folders for the Admin user to the Outlook Default Folders. That should help users that use the software for the first time.
  • Improved the pickup of the Outlook Profile so that when users open an Outlook folder, the default profile is automatically selected.
  • Added the capability to mount Outlook folders for Microsoft's communication object with MSDN.
  • Improved the update checking of date fields for Exchange. If you are running our software and have date fields mapped on an Exchange environment, it is highly recommended that you upgrade to this version.
  • Improved the export of the field mapping
  • Added synchronization of boolean fields
  • Added the video tutorial link to the help menu.
  • Added the capability to sync the photo field from ACT! to Outlook and vice versa. So we can now see your picture!...
  • Changed the dealing of Tasks so that when we receive Outlook Tasks with no begin or due date (a no-no for ACT!) we choose the modification date of the Task as the begin and end date. Some versions of ACT! did not like us setting the data to the future.
  • Added more status messages when processing the synchronization and checking of the databases. This was due to some users thinking that our software was "hung" while it was working feverishly in the background checking and synchronizing the ACT!-Outlook world.

Issues Fixed

  • Fixed a bug with the Preview Screen failing when previewing Contacts with Calendar Items.
  • Running the Synchronizer with Outlook open sometimes caused Outlook to lose the mapi connection so that you had to restart Outlook. This has been fixed. You can now run the synchronizer with Outlook open or closed.
  • Phone numbers and Exchange. When synchronizing with Exchange, the same contacts keep getting flagged due to a modification on the phone number, however, no modification was made. Reason: this is due to corruption on the ACT! phone number. A fix was created to bypass this corruption.
  • Background processor. When enabling the background processor, the software created 2 processors in which one was invalid. Fixed.
  • Exchange-Related issue with slow or VPN connections made our checking for existing contacts invalid and the software would create duplicate contacts/calendar items. It now does not create any duplicate contacts and works fine.
  • Fixed the update of number user defined fields. As error was occurring when ACT! provided us with a nothing field.
  • Duplication of recurring events in Outlook. Added a workaround to this problem that is being caused by corruption on the ACT!'s recurring events mechanism. Apart from Outlook recurring events being created, this corruption caused some confusion on our handling of updates on Recurring Events from ACT! to Outlook. This has now been fixed and as far as we can tell, the supported recurring events mechanism is working great.
  • Duplication of recurring events in Outlook Tasks. Same as in appointments. Fixed.

October 1st, 2009: Update. V12.2.120.21

Enhancements

  • Added an ACT! Cleaner to the software so that certain actions can be taken to clean up ACT!. The first action implemented is to remove the Outlook default 1/1/4500 date from any dates that have been synchronized back.
  • Enhanced the status bar when synchronizing large quantities of contacts back to Outlook.

Issues Fixed

  • Fixed the update of empty date fields from Outlook to ACT! for updated contacts. When these fields used to be brought over to ACT!, we used the Outlook "empty" date of 1/1/4500. This caused a little bit on consternation on the birthday fields. Now, these fields are properly updated.
  • For some versions of ACT!, when a phone field was empty, it did not clear it. We force a clear of the phone field in ACT! now.

Download

To install the new version, uninstall the current version, download the software from our web site and install it. All your settings and license should be maintained.

September 23rd, 2009: Update. V12.2.120.20

There have been quite a few modifications to the software due to customer requests.

Enhancements

  • Added the capability to set the date on the "once a day" processing on the background processor. This capability was available via the system tray, but you can now modify it also via the Tools menu.
  • Minor cosmetic modifications to the interface
  • Added the compatibility with ACT! 2010 and it works great!
  • Improved Exchange checking for modifications to items.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the Synchronizer would not overwrite contact data from Outlook into ACT! on ACT! 10.3. This was due to a bug on the ACT! Framework 10.x . All data now comes over from Outlook just ok. If you are finding this an issue with your release, download the update from our web site and it will fix it.
  • Fixed the generation of errors when bringing over Sales Opportunities from ACT! to Outlook into the contact body text. This error appeared with our release of Sept 1st with the ACT! 2010 compatibility. Everything work fine now.
  • Fixed the generation of Body Text items for ACT! users with "Standard" privilege.
